The Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for Crown & Cauldron.
Terms of Use
Last updated: 18/10/2026
1. About Crown & Cauldron
Crown & Cauldron is an independent, fan-made storytelling and audio drama project. The website offers audio dramas, short teasers, behind-the-scenes material, early access to new work and community features. In these Terms, "we", "us" and "the Madam" mean Crown & Cauldron and its creator.
2. Accepting these Terms
By using the website you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the website.
3. Who can join, and mature content
You must be 18 or older to create an account. When you join, you confirm that you are 18 or older. Visitors who are not signed in may browse the public pages.
Parts of the website, including Where the Fire Burns Low, contain mature themes, including sexual content involving fictional adult characters, and depictions of violence. Before entering these areas you confirm again that you are 18 or older.
You must not misrepresent your age. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it.
The age confirmation restricts access to mature material; it does not mean every piece on the website suits every listener. All-ages work is also published on the Crown & Cauldron YouTube channel and our all-ages Spotify show.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private and for everything done through your account. Do not share your sign-in details, and please don't reuse your Crown & Cauldron password on other websites.
You must not try to get into other people's accounts, content or our systems without permission.
Your username does not have to be your real name. That does not make your account anonymous to us or to the services that run the website (see the Privacy Policy).
5. Visitors, Cauldron members and Crown members
Visitors (not signed in) can watch the Public Library's YouTube videos, hear short teasers of the Six Embers, and read the Madam's posts in the Hearth Feed. Visitors cannot hear full audio or use the community features.
Cauldron members (joined free) can hear the Six Embers in full. The Six Embers are six pieces from Where the Fire Burns Low, refreshed every Friday at midnight Eastern time (the start of Friday). The newest piece takes the first place and the rest are chosen at random; we don't choose them by request. Cauldron members can also read and post in the Hearth Feed, like and comment on the audio they can hear, and send private messages to the Madam.
Crown members have everything above plus the full Where the Fire Burns Low library, Early Access and Behind the Scenes. There are three ways to have Crown Access:
Patreon. Have an active, paid membership on the Crown & Cauldron Patreon and link your Patreon account from your account page. Free Patreon memberships don't include Crown Access. Your Crown Access through Patreon follows your membership status as Patreon reports it to us, and ends when you unlink your Patreon account or your paid membership ends. Patreon memberships are billed and renewed by Patreon under Patreon's own terms.
Buying Crown Access. A one-time purchase, in US dollars, of $3.00 to $100.00. Every $0.25 buys one day, rounded down to whole days (for example, $5.00 buys 20 days). Days are added on to any days you already have. A purchase never renews and is not a subscription.
Gifted days. The Madam may gift days of Crown Access. Gifted days work like bought days and have no cash value.
Buying Crown Access is a purchase of access to the website for the days bought. It is not a tip or a donation, and it is not a purchase of the stories themselves. Payments are processed by Stripe and Patreon under their own terms; we never see or store your card details.
Pieces in Early Access may later move into Where the Fire Burns Low, or be published elsewhere and removed from the website. Completed all-ages pieces are published in full on YouTube, where they remain free.
6. All sales final, cancelling and deleting your account
All sales are final. Purchases of Crown Access are not refundable [except where the law requires a refund]. If you think a charge is wrong, email us at crownandcauldron@myyahoo.com. We review every dispute case by case and may refuse a refund at our discretion.
If a payment is refunded or reversed (including a chargeback), the days it bought are removed from your account. Days you have already used are not charged for.
You can delete your account at any time from your account page, or by emailing us. Deleting your account ends any remaining bought or gifted days, with no refund. It does not cancel a Patreon membership: cancel that on Patreon.
If we suspend or end an account for breaking these Terms (section 7), any remaining bought or gifted days end too, with no refund.
7. Community standards
In the Hearth Feed, comments and messages, you must not:
harass, threaten or abuse anyone;
post anything unlawful, or anything sexual involving anyone under 18 (including fiction or drawn images);
post sexually explicit images;
post images of real people without their consent;
pretend to be someone else, including the Madam or a moderator;
share anyone's private information;
spam, or post links to scams or harmful software;
interfere with the website or try to get round its limits.
The Madam and moderators chosen by the Madam may remove posts and comments that break these rules. Removed items are deleted for good 30 days after removal. We may also suspend or end accounts that break these Terms.
To keep the community running smoothly, there are limits on how often you can post and send messages; you'll see a message if you reach one.
8. What you post
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you let us store and show it on the website to the people who can see it there, for as long as it stays up. Only post images and text you have the right to share.
The Hearth Feed keeps the 50 most recent posts, and every feed post, with its image, is deleted 45 days after it was posted. Don't use it to keep anything you want to keep.
9. Our content and the fan-work notice
You may listen to Crown & Cauldron work through the access your membership gives you. You may not download, copy, redistribute, resell or republish it without our permission, except where the law allows.
Crown & Cauldron is fan-made, transformative work. It is not official Harry Potter content, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. or any rights holder. We claim no ownership of characters, settings or other elements from the Harry Potter works; no
infringement is intended.
10. Changes to the website
Features may change, pieces may move between areas or be removed, and what each membership includes may change from time to time.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms. For a significant change, we will try to give at least 30 days' notice on the website before it takes effect. If you keep using the website after the change, you accept the new Terms; if you don't agree, please stop using it.
12. Contact
Questions about these Terms, a purchase or your account: crownandcauldron@myyahoo.com. Members can also write to the Madam from the candle in the top bar.

2. How we use it
To run the website, sign you in, give you the access your membership includes, look after the community, answer your messages and prevent abuse. We don't send marketing emails. The only emails you'll get from the website are about your account, such as confirming your address or resetting your password.
3. What we don't collect
We never see or store your card details: Stripe handles payments. We don't use advertising cookies, analytics or tracking.
4. The services that run the website
Service | What it does for us | What it handles
Supabase | Accounts and the website's database | Everything in section 1

Each handles information under its own terms and privacy policy.
5. What the website stores in your browser
- Your sign-in, so you stay signed in.
- A copy of the Public Library's video lists, for up to 6 hours, so the page loads quickly.
- A copy of the website's own files, so it opens when you're offline (the installed app).
6. How long we keep things
What | How long
Feed posts and their images | 45 days after posting
Posts and comments removed by a moderator | Deleted 30 days after removal
Messages with the Madam | Until you or the Madam delete them, or the account is deleted
Posting and message times (limits) | 2 days
Everything else in section 1 | Until your account is deleted
When you delete your account, we delete your profile, posts, comments, likes, messages, listening positions, Patreon link and our records of your purchases and gifts. Stripe and Patreon keep their own records under their own policies [professional: whether we must keep purchase records for tax or dispute purposes].
7. Children
The website is not for anyone under 18, and you must be 18 or older to create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it and its information.
8. Your choices and rights
- You can change your username, email address and password, and delete your own posts, comments and messages, at any time.
- You can delete your account from your account page; section 6 says what that removes.
- You can unlink your Patreon account from your account page.
- You can email us to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it or to resolve a dispute. [Professional: any rights specific to your audience's location.]
9. Keeping your information safe
Access to your information is controlled by the website's database rules, files are shared only through short-lived links, and only the Madam can manage members. No website is perfectly secure; please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy. For a significant change, we will give notice on the website before it takes effect.
